American Heart Month Awareness

American Heart Month Awareness

February is a wonderful month full of love, the color red, and American Heart Month!

The first American Heart Month was established in 1964 because at that time, cardiovascular disease accounted for more than 50% of deaths in the United States. Today, cardiovascular disease is still one of the leading causes of deaths in the United States and the number 1 cause of death globally.

At Chatsworth Park Health Care Center, we know how important health is! We encourage everyone to raise awareness and to learn more about heart health.

Start taking steps towards a healthier heart with these tips from The American Heart Association:

  1. Use the calories that you take in.
Regular physical exercise is important to maintain healthy weight.
  1. Eat nutritiously, from all the food groups.
“Nutrient-rich foods have minerals, protein, whole grains and other nutrients but are lower in calories. They may help you control your weight, cholesterol and blood pressure.”

  2. Don’t smoke.
